Bio

Mark Nicholson grew up in the Appalachian Mountains of western Virginia. Surrounded by music from The Stanley Brothers to The Rolling Stones it wasn’t long before Mark was singing, playing guitar and writing songs. Mark gained a regional following as the guitarist in Roanoke, Virginia favorite Dead Reckoning. Mark also played in Roanoke jam band Sol Searchers; sharing the stage with the likes of Marcus King, Travers Brothership, The Big Something and Moe.

Mark teamed up with former Calf Mountain Jam bandmate drummer Justin Shifflett 2019 to form Mark Nicholson and The Distance, adding blues organist Neil Bartley and bass player Blanks Blankenship. While only together for a short time the Distance brings considerable musical experience to the table. They collaborated with producer Bobby Read at Small World Audio to produce two singles Virginia Moon and Lonesome Road.

Mark Nicholson and The Distance are creating some serious rock and roll music. They are just getting started and coming to a town near you.
